It is that time again – a personal SHOW AND TELL of sao’s quilty stuff…..

My PEPTO CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO QUILT now has borders and is with my long arm quilter Sara – complete with a little label!!!!! I really like the border fabric that Susan picked out…..hot pink! I got the pattern from Augusta Cole’s CUTTING BEE in January but the fabric was all from my stash – I have been collecting pinks for awhile……and there is barely a dent in my pink fabric.

And Finally I did some creative work on my label – two YO YO’s and three buttons GLUED ON WITH FABRI-TAC covered the holes left by the basting stitches. Thanks to my VA SCRAPPER friends for coming up with this solution!!!

30′s Club at Quilter’s Corner – Sunday June 28, 2009

We had a nice meeting at Quilter’s Corner today – the 30′s club! We had lots of show and tells and lots of fun! There are so many new and exciting quilt classes coming to Quilter’s Corner – I took photos of a few of the class samples. Marla was back from her trip to Oklahoma with a WONDERFUL quilt that her sister made for her. It is really outstanding – lots of impressive embroidery work. What a nice sister!

Linda was so excited about her class that she took from Susan on color choices (mind you that wasn’t the official title of the class – but she learned to choose fabric ) – note the picture below - and she wanted Ginger to know that she made the corners mitered!!! I can’t speak for Ginger, but I can say that I am impressed!!

I worked on my Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt today and got a lot done – I think last month I sewed on a total of 6 hexagons – and this month I sewed up a storm! I want to get this ready so that I can hand quilt it – as soon as I learn HOW! Susan believes that a hand quilting class will be offered in November at Quilter’s Corner – so I want to make sure that I am ready!

Pepto Chattanooga Choo Choo Quilt

Believe it or not, that pink Chattanooga Choo Choo Quilt is all put together – with the help of kitties Daisy May and Tonto Morris, that is. I have named it my PEPTO CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO QUILT! Today I bought some wonderful fabric for the borders – and hope I will be finishing this in the coming week!

Here are some of my PEPTO CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO QUILT photos! I got the pattern at the Augusta Cole Cutting Bee in January and I got on this PINK KICK and somehow made this quilt in one week……don’t know what got into me……I just couldn’t stop!!! :)

I have cut over 500 2 1/2 squares this week and now I am having fun putting the pieces back together. I cut some 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 inch strips for a future August Cole CUTTING BEE – and then realized that my fabric wasn’t pre-washed (I personally never wash the fabric first.) SOOO…..I decided to just add some more fabric and try to use up a drawer full of pink stash and make a quilt. So here are the fruits of my labors so far…..my Chattanooga Choo Choo in progress.

I think this might be a Fons and Porter pattern – but I don’t think the book is available any longer. I got it at Augusta Cole’s Cutting Bee this January…..and if you want to have LOTS OF FUN – and if you live in the Richmond, VA area – don’t miss it. It was January 31st this year…..it might be around the same time in 2010. Augusta Coles’s website is on my sidebar!
