It is that time again – a personal SHOW AND TELL of sao’s quilty stuff…..

My PEPTO CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO QUILT now has borders and is with my long arm quilter Sara – complete with a little label!!!!! I really like the border fabric that Susan picked out…..hot pink! I got the pattern from Augusta Cole’s CUTTING BEE in January but the fabric was all from my stash – I have been collecting pinks for awhile……and there is barely a dent in my pink fabric.

And Finally I did some creative work on my label – two YO YO’s and three buttons GLUED ON WITH FABRI-TAC covered the holes left by the basting stitches. Thanks to my VA SCRAPPER friends for coming up with this solution!!!

Colonial Piecemaker's JUNE BUG

I didn’t have much free time this week – but I did manage to do my block for the Williamsburg Guild – Colonial Piecemaker’s for tomorrow. This is my JUNE BUG BLOCK……everyone that makes a block gets a chance to win all of the blocks.

I said that I wasn’t going to start anything new for awhile – but when Bonnie K. Hunter has a mystery quilt – I am THERE…..no ifs, ands, or buts…..I am there. I love what she designs and I have made all of her mystery quilts so far – so there is no stopping me now. Here is what I did on her Christmas Lights Mystery. Above are the Unit 3 patches and below are the Units 1 and 2.

And one more thing – I have had a request for a full picture of the FRIENDSHIP TIED UP WITH BOWTIES QUILT that I made for Catherine – and actually it isn’t finished yet because I had the NERVE to ask her to make it pretty by embellishing it….that is what you call a true TEAMWORK FRIENDSHIP QUILT! LOL.

Main Street Houses…..

Main Street Houses – I finished all four blocks today – and after I had finished I realized that I had put a leaf at the top of the vines – and there should be a straight edge vine showing at the top. OH NO. I AM BUMMED. If it were for me, I wouldn’t care because OBVIOUSLY I liked it with the leaf at the top or I wouldn’t have IMAGINED that that was how it was supposed to me.

BUT….this is a block exchange – so I am at a loss for what to do…..I just cannot cannot cannot start over. Well, I COULD, but it would be distressing. LOL. :) Any ideas?

30′S Club Moda Piece N Plenty Quilt

I have been making blocks for my 30′s Club Piece N Plenty Quilt this weekend – in between ball games, a slumber party and a weeding party. Right now it is hard to tell if I am going to like it…….it is pretty colorful!

Here is what I have so far.

SUNDAY – A Whole Lot Going On!

Today was a WHIRLWIND OF FUN – and I think there was even a bit of sewing going on at QUILTER’S CORNER in Midlothian, VA. We had our 30′s Club. Actually I think there was as much laughing and talking as there was sewing. Oh yes, shopping too. That is what makes us happy, right?

I had fun oohing and aahing over Catherine’s BOM examples – so the fun started in the parking lot! Her quilt blocks are so artistic – love them. She and Sandie designed the quilt – but it is a BOM MYSTERY – so we won’t know what it is going to look like until the end! Notice Catherine’s cute little Scotty- Sydney too! Thanks for the HELLO KITTY LOLLIPOPS, Catherine!

We had fun looking at Mark Lipinski’s latest edition of his magazine – QUILTER’S HOME……..I just had to buy it. He is so funny – I found myself laughing out loud. It is really true – it is FUN TO READ!

Look at all of the pretty show and tells from today – and I brought home a couple of furniture show and tells too……I sure have a nice family to take me in at the end of the day – even if that means with two new pieces of antique wonder! I had to include the pictures – Susan and Mike got these at the antique auction – aren’t they cute! TOO BAD THAT SHE DIDN’T HAVE ROOM FOR THEM IN HER SHOP.

Oh yes, and look at my Moss print – I got it hung up – I am SO EXCITED! It was a good day.

sao’s Quilty Happenings This Week – and Then Came Mamie my Singer 99K

Featured in my weekly quilting log are two new quilts – Augusta Cole’s Hidden Pinwheel Quilt and Bonnie K. Hunter’s Strip Twist Super Bowl Quilt Blocks. I also sewed on Joey’s Forever Plaid Quilt – I put pictures of these on an earlier blog today!

I did finish the Fabricaholics January 24th Mystery Quilt (aka Bonnie K. Hunter’s Star Struck)…..well, it isn’t FINISHED FINISHED but the blocks are finished – it just needs borders, a back, quilting and binding….that is ALMOST FINISHED! This is TOTALLY SCRAPPY without a bit of even controlled scrappiness and I am happy with it. I am surprised too because in the past I have always maintained SOME DEGREE of CONTROL – but not this time!

I just love “MAMIE” – she is named after my grandmother Mamie Elizabeth. I am told that if I get another old sewing machine that I can be considered a collector. Sounds like fun to me!
