AWWWWW…..this is what my DD, Christi sent to me….

Christi and momsao

This is one of my FAVORITE THINGS ….. when my daughter does things that make me cry.  First I cried because I am a Mother and Mothers cry when their kids say HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY…..and second, I cried beause I actually dressed my precious little girl in YELLOW BELL BOTTOM PANTS.  Sigh……..I have always said that “EVEN IF YOU DRESS FUNNY, it is OK because  it is good to make MEMORIES!!!”  LOL

I hope everyone has a great Valentine’s Day!!!!

The Foot in the Superbowl Picture of Cooper

Posted By on February 8, 2010

Where was a picture of SAO during the Superbowl you ask?  Look at the picture of Cooper during the Superbowl – Cooper was sitting on top of me and the foot you see in the backgound is MINE!

Ok – so here is a close up of me – and yes, I painted each toenail a different color – just for fun, you know!  I started making HAPPY FEET when I was in college – to calm me down and make myself smile before exams.  It has now become a tradition of sorts.  In fact I have several grandangels who as infants crawling around on the ground thought they were M and M’s and tried to nibble.  One giant land turtle (belonging to a friend in CA)  mistook my big toe for a strawberry…….yep…….I was at a pool party and the turtle thought I was part of the refreshments…..true story.

SAO's HAPPY FEET

I ABSOLUTELY have to get out of the house soon (not that I am saying anything negative about this beautiful snow) –  however, my blog entries are starting to resemble someone who is landlocked with cabin fever!!!!!  I wonder if breathing in too much fabric lint can have an effect on cognitive functioning…..sigh.  🙂

The Giant Dinosaur

Posted By on February 8, 2010

I keep forgetting to post a picture of a GIANT DINOSAUR that I knitted.  In 2005 my grandangel Vincent asked me if I could knit him a dinosaur.  He has always been one of those children who LOVES dinosaurs and can actually pronounce all of their correct species names!

Feeling pretty confident that I was safe and there would NEVER BE A PATTERN AVAILABLE for a giant dinosaur (because in my entire liftime I had only knitted FLAT things like afghans and a few sweaters GONE BAD) I said that I would be HAPPY TO KNIT HIM A GIANT DINOSAUR  if I had a pattern.  His mom, who is brilliant at finding things online, worked her magic.

The REST IS HISTORY – before long a pattern arrived in the MAIL – a pattern for a six foot long dinosaur (counting the VERY LONG TAIL)…..and YES this really is a GIANT DINOSAUR – just like he asked for.  IT TOOK ME FOUR PLUS MONTHS TO KNIT IT AND I WORKED ON IT DURING ALL OF MY SPARE TIME!!!!!  Vincent, who still loves dinosaurs, loved it (although I must admit that I almost fainted the first time I saw him swing it around his head by the tail – but hey, it was made to be loved – I was only hoping that it could survive long enough to get LOTS of love!!)

This picture was taken last summer.  The GIANT DINOSAUR  is still alive and well after 5 years!

Dino and Vincent

I learned a lot of NEW STITCHES.  I was VERY HAPPY in the end, that other than the fact that it was blue, it did RESEMBLE a dinosaur.  Now, I ask you, why am I having so much trouble knitting a SMALL PAIR OF SOCKS (it is on my goal list AGAIN for 2010!!!!)  And, just for the record, it is the ONLY KNITTED ANIMAL that I have ever produced although I did crochet one giant hippo and two giant rabbits!!

Vincent and the dinosaur

And to answer your question, yes, Vincent got a DINOSAUR QUILT!  It is a Karen DuMont pattern but I put it together with my own setting.  This picture makes me smile.  You can tell if someone LOVES a quilt if they fall on the ground and hug it!  :):)

The Superbowl is over and the SAINTS are happy for sure!    CONGRATULATIONS SAINTS.  My DD and SIL are happy for sure — they – and their snowman were pulling for the SAINTS TO WIN!

The Saints Fans

Epps Snowman Happy that the Saints WON!

The Colts fans in the family had fun watching the game and the commercials….doesn’t grandangel Leanna and grand-dog Ruby look relaxed!!!

Colts Fans Ruby and Leanna

Other Colts Fans were too full of sugar to be relaxed…..look at Grandangels Sarah and Cooper!

Yummy Ice Cream Sarah!!

Cooper the Colts Fan!

I participated in Marge’s DELAWARE QUILTS Superbowl Stash 2010 – and made a quilt top all from fabric already in my stash (from the last two Augusta Cole Cutting Bees to be exact.)  I did the WEAVE pattern – it was lots of fun.

Here you go…..my Superbowl accomplishment…..this is made from 4 1/2″ half square triangles and a few 4 1/2″ squares.  The white inner border is 2 1/2″ and the final border is made from 3 1/2″ scraps that I have been sewing together into one LARGE roll!  I finally found a home for them!  There is a lot of satisfaction derived from taking a bunch of UNRELATED fabric leftovers and turning them into a scrappy quilt.

Thanks Marge for the Superbowl Quilt Party on Fabricaholics Anonymous!

Are you ready?  Will you be glued to the TV tomorrow – -providing that the POWER is on?  Can you imagine the wailing if the ice knocks out our electricity!  I do love this snow – but we need our electricity for the Superbowl and FOR SEWING!!!!!

SNOW IN VA

Who are you routing for?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT AND TELL ME WHO YOU ARE PULLING FOR!!!

Some of us are looking forward to the commercials as much as the game……can’t wait.  Some of us are cooking away – and NO, I will not be making my black bean brownies tomorrow – we are making ICE CREAM SUNDAES here.  Yes, in the middle of the STORM OF THE CENTURY we are going to be eating ice cream – that is if we can withstand the temptation to eat it early!  Everyone in this house has been having ICE CREAM ATTACKS and INTENSE LONGINGS ever since the ice cream hit the freezer on Thursday!  🙂

Leave me a COMMENT after the game and tell me which was your favorite commercial – I have been watching some PREVIEW commercials and I think we have some good ones coming on.  I can’t wait to see the ENTIRE BETTY WHITE feature!  🙂

GO COLTS!!! GO PEYTON!   I am pulling for the COLTS (my DH, Max is a LOYAL fan – and thinks Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback to have ever graced a football field) so I am DEFINITELY cheering the Colts on tomorrow.  LOL

Peton Manning - ready for the Superbowl

Are you a WHO DAT SAINT or a COLT fan?  The SAINTS ARE CONFIDENT OF A WIN – so says Sports Writer Ralph Vacchiano……..I know they must be excited because it is their first Superbowl and New Orleans sure could use some GOOD THINGS happening there………

Darren Sharper (l.), Jonathan Vilma and Saints are undaunted by underdog status heading into Sunday’s Super Bowl.

FORT LAUDERDALE – The New Orleans Saints are the heart-warming, feel-good story of Super Bowl XLIV – a hard-luck franchise representing a downtrodden city. They are the Cinderellas crashing Peyton Manning‘s ball. They are everybody’s darlings.

Now I can’t be accused of not giving EQUAL TIME to the players!  🙂  And I had to include this article because I think it is HILARIOUS that the Saints are being referred to as CINDERELLAS crashing Peyton Manning’s Ball.  GOOD WRITING, don’t you think!

It won’t be long until we KNOW whether the CINDERELLA SAINTS or the PEYTON MANNING BALL RUNNERS win the rings!  🙂  I am not really a football fan but I do get excited every year for the SuperBowl Game – our whole family watches it!

The quilters of FABRICAHOLIC ANONYMOUS will be stitching away – following  Marge – and finding out how their HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES end up in a wonderful quilt.  FUN FUN EVERYWHERE!
