FIRST SNOW in Midlothian, VA – sort of

Posted By on December 6, 2009

December 5 we had our first snow of the season….oh how exciting……even though it was theoretically not a snow storm, we celebrated just the same!!!!

The grandangels even took Ruby (the dog) out to play – and one of our cats, Oreo, got to go outside on a leash.  SHE LOVED IT.

I love snow – it is on my list of FAVORITE THINGS!  There is something especially exciting about the FIRST SNOW OF THE YEAR – love watching it fall!

Pre-Christmas Festivities Brunch with Santa

Posted By on December 6, 2009

It is a yearly tradition to have Brunch with Santa at the Boathouse in Midlothian, VA – we just had our 6th annual feast.   It was a beautiful day too!  The birds were enjoying the lake – and we loved watching them soar!

We like having Brunch with Santa because he greets us at our table….. and this year we had a wonderful table by the window overlooking the lake!

I love the SPECIAL TOUCHES – this year we had a special guest on the window – he landed on Leanna’s head.

See our Christmas wasp?

I had a mushroom omelette with goat cheese this year – REALLY GOOD!

Santa takes LOTS of time talking to each person – and he actually goes over THEIR LIST with them!

Happy birthday to my friend and dear family members in December.

First there is Marla….and here she is about to enjoy PEANUT BUTTER PIE – her favorite – at Halfway House – and look at that chocolate syrup – great presentation.  Happy Birthday December 2, Marla!

Christmas Decorating Time in Virginia

Posted By on November 29, 2009

 WARNING

If you are NOT a family member you may just want to skip this because I am going to share our fun decorating for Christmas last night!

This year it was Sarah’s turn to put the STAR on the TREE.  It is a BIG DEAL and we can never remember whose turn it is so we have to look at the pictures from the previous years to figure it out!  🙂

Greg and Christi made half cranberry half champagne toast treats – we sang, we danced, we made canoes out of boxes, we decorated, we oohed an aahed over decorations from the past three years that the grandangels had made!  Each year everyone gets a new ornament for Christmas so it was fun to remember who had what and when!  HM……some of them – like the CRAB ORNAMENT was not matched up with a person for sure!

It was actually ALL LOTS of fun however little Ruby (our dog) was really showing signs of anxiety until Greg gave her an herbal chill pill.  I think maybe she missed her previous family?

This year we have lots of Christmas stockings hung (one for each member of the family plus 5 pet stockings) and we always have this BIG DEBATE about which suction hook window hangars for the stockings are the best.  Honestly I cannot figure out why the debate continues year after year because I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT  THE ONES FROM QVC ARE THE BEST!!!!

Anyway here are shots of some of our fun!  Actually it was all fun except for when Greg played “GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER” and another VERY SAD CHRISTMAS SONG that they play every year because as HARD as I try NOT to cry, I always do.

Enjoy the pictures – and if you happen to notice that there are no pictures of Max then just remember that the football season coincides with the Christmas season and so Christmas decorating doesn’t make the top of the list for fun things to do on a Saturday night.  :):)

Embellishing Fairies

Posted By on November 28, 2009

I had such a wonderful time in Catherine’s class at Quilting Adventure today.  She is an excellent teacher and has a WEALTH of information.  I learned so many NEW things and she is SO FUNNY too!  I think we all left with a new appreciation for the art of embellishment!

Really, if you can, do take a class from Catherine sometime.  I learned to apply crystals, do many different embroidery stitches, embroidery with ribbon, sew on beads and much more.  I don’t know when I have had so much fun in a class.

Here are some of the highlights!  I only WISH that it would show up SPARKLY because it really looks neat!
