There was a whole lot of teaching going on at VA Scrappers Saturday! I love learning new things! I will put some of the COOL things step by step in a separate post (Exploding Pineapple Block and Stars from a half square triangle!!) I’ve included several SHOW AND TELLS here.
I really had fun – and it was so inspirational – now I want to make a clothesline basket (ala Sheddy), knit a fancy yarn shawl like Patsy, knit a hat like Matilda, make a quilt as you go project, make the Halloween blackwork quilt, make a nickel quilt – and hey, I might as well make a tent too…..in my spare time!
We missed Catherine – but I tried to take as many pictures as possible so she wouldn’t miss anything……note the cookie from FRESH MARKET. It was REALLY REALLY REALLY yummy!
Joy made the most adorable TENT for her grandangel…..he is going to LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

After I left Quilter’s Corner today I ventured out in search of THE GREAT BIG GREENHOUSE so that I could buy an orchid pot…..and since I was feeling especially competent (I did finish binding two quilts today!) I decided to make the search without GRETA GARMIN!
LOOK…..I found it.

The GREAT BIG GREENHOUSE
And I also FOUND a FARMER’S MARKET – and I wasn’t even looking for one (but Max has been missing the Farmer’s Markets in CA and I knew he would be happy!)

I found a Farmer's Market!

It seems that with each new day I am learning NEW THINGS. Well, TODAY at Sit and Stitch I learned that it is possible to go on an 8 day trip with ONLY one piece of carry-on luggage. OH MY GOODNESS, what a revelation. So I am accepting the challenge. This won’t be easy – I usually travel with ONE VERY LARGE CHECK ON BAG, ONE CARRY ON PIECE OF LUGGAGE plus one large backpack stuffed to the corners! This will be a drastic change – but somehow I find it intriguing to try!
Tomorrow I am shopping for tiny sample size toletries and for some luggage. When I go on the New England tour in October, I will be leaving the hair dryer and shampoo behind (and hoping that the hotels along the way will provide what I need.) No bubble bath, bath gel, shaving cream, foot cream, hand cream or face cream……I hope I don’t dry up!!
I guess I will be taking ONE camera instead of THREE!
I will also be drastically cutting back on clothing……can I do it? It is A NEW THING but I am going to take the challenge. Keep tuned in and I will let you know if I can pull this one off!!!
I guess this is a good sign – tomorrow – August 22, Macy’s is having a 60% reduction on their luggage…..so I will be there bright and early to get a carry-on size bag so I can start practicing for this adventure!!!

We had a FULL HOUSE today at Quilter’s Corner in Midlothian, VA. We had an extra dose of giggles here and there and some of us even sewed and shopped a bit! There was a bit of TEACHING here and there – and some RACING (yes, I said racing…….Sherry was racing to see who could finish binding her quilt first – was it going to be Sherry or sao? Come to find out, MISS SHERRY had two sides of HER QUILT finished before the race began…..and she won!) Sherry did win one race – without cheating!!! She finished her THYME TO WATER QUILT before I did….mine isn’t even together yet!
Catherine finished embellishing her roll up bag – and she enhanced mine too – with beautiful stickers! Catherine also had more beautiful jewelry to show – and an outstanding Victorian fold-out journal. It was to oooohed and aaaahed over. I am not sure what you call it – it might not be a journal, but it was a part of a challenge that Catherine, Sandie and Chris did last year.
I hope you enjoy the pictures of our day! Oh yes, and in case you are wondering what a FLUTTERBYE is – it is a code word for butterfly since Catherine LOVES THEM and sao is trying to!
