My Day With Catherine – OR….AN OUTING WITH THREE MOBILITY CHALLENGED PERSONS

Posted By on June 10, 2009

The title of this post does not accurately depict what Catherine’s husband, John, said.  He said TWO CRIPPLES AND A WHEELCHAIR WERE OUT ON AN OUTING…..I liked the sound of MOBILITY CHALLENGED PERSONS a bit better.  LOL  🙂

I was so thrilled though to see Catherine today and find out that she felt like going out – we went to the QUILT MAN fabric shop.  I had never been before and the shop is closing – the economy is not kind these days!!  We had fun talking and looking and it was GREAT to see Catherine rolling around the shop!!!  Don’t you think she is amazing!!!

After we had fun shopping we went on a picnic adventure – ARBYS!  THEN if that weren’t enough excitement, Catherine taught me to make the special flower that she designed to put on our quilt.  It was really LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN!  THANKS CATHERINE, JOHN, AND SYDNEY!

Catherine’s SHOW AND TELL

Posted By on June 10, 2009

Catherine showed her friend LULU and me some of her works of art today…..some projects in process.  It was an inspiring SHOW AND TELL!  It seems like every time I blink I find out Catherine has MORE outlets for her creative genius.  JUST LOOK.  And while you are looking, please notice how great Catherine is looking.  She is remarkable – her accident was one month ago yesterday – and you can see her positive attitude shining through!

Cooper WAS SOOOOOO EXCITED

Catherine sent a whole bag of CAR goodies to Cooper for his birthday – as a BIG thank you for the picture that he drew for her……he had so much fun looking at the bag full of goodies – in fact the whole family was in awe!

THANK YOU CATHERINE…..Cooper liked everything SOOOOOOOOO much!  He was SOOOOOO happy to have his first grade lunch box – he is really thinking ahead!  Everyone thinks you are SOOOOOOOOO cool!

Tonight I Ripped The Legs off Cooper’s ONLY PAIR OF LONG PANTS THAT FIT HIM!!!

Posted By on June 8, 2009

Oh, I am laughing so hard – I can hardly stop!  It might be one of those YOU HAD TO BE THERE SITUATIONS – I am not sure!  (Tell me if you think this is funny.)

I was babysitting tonight and after Cooper took his shower he decided that he would put on his clothes, and sleep in them tonight so that when he woke up in the morning he would be all ready to go to school……you don’t want to be late to school on your birthday when you have just turned 6.     Now that sounded like a pretty cool idea to me – and the parents were gone – no adults in the house – so it was my choice – right?  I actually thought it was kind of sweet and creative….and keep in mind that tomorrow IS HIS BIRTHDAY!

Cooper knew just the pair of pants that he wanted to wear for his birthday tomorrow – a long pair with a stripe up the side that had a zip-off bottom part on the legs  so that when removed,  they become shorts.  HE SAID that his MOM SAID that WHEN HE WAS SIX we could rip the bottom part off.  I said ARE YOU SURE?  He said YES – SHE REALLY DID.  We went through that same question and answer period a couple of times and he INSISTED THAT SHE SAID HE COULD WHEN HE WAS SIX.  (I would have called her but she was at a swim team meeting – not a good time to call.)

But the zipper on the pants was broken so I literally had to RIP the zipper off the pants  to get the bottom part off – but in the end they were no longer long pants – but cool short ones – and we were all happy campers.

UNTIL HIS MOM CAME HOME….it seems that she had said that WHEN HE WAS BIG and OUTGREW THE PANTS that he could take the bottom part off.  And she also said that they were the ONLY LONG PANTS THAT HE HAD THAT FIT HIM…….oops

HAD is the key word in that sentence.  TOO FUNNY.  A classic case of miscommunication.  She said WHEN YOU ARE BIG….He figured that BIG MEANT TURNING SIX!  Well, the cows are out of the barn now – so we might as well laugh because I don’t have a CLUE HOW TO SEW A ZIPPER BACK ONTO A LITTLE NARROW LEG ON A PAIR OF PANTS!

🙂 Darling daughter isn’t laughing YET – but I think it is at least a little bit hilarious.  I mean, really, isn’t it cute?  Doesn’t he look happy?!  LOL

Happy Cooper with his SHORT PANTS!

Happy Cooper with his SHORT PANTS!
