Jonas Brothers – the 3D Concert Experience – Feb. 27, 2009

Posted By on February 27, 2009

I just got back from a night-on-the-town with grandangel Nanna and her friend, Kenzie.  We saw the JONAS BROTHERS – 3D Concert Experience.  It was just absolutely wonderful.  I was so excited and really enjoyed it.  The 3D effects made one feel as if they were right there on stage with the Jonas Brothers.

I must admit that I shed a few tears of joy – my grandangel and her friend’s giggles just lit up my heart.  They clapped and had such fun.  Then a few times I heard their soft little voices singing along with the Jonas Brothers and I almost LOST IT.

I am sharing a couple of pictures – on one condition – NO LAUGHING at me in my 3-D glasses!

The Richmond Hospitality Quilters ROLLED ON DOWN THE ROAD to the Hampton Quilt Show

Posted By on February 26, 2009

Today the Richmond Hospitality Quilters hopped on a GROOME bus and we set off for the Hampton Quilt Show.  It was ALL GOOD.  The trip was organized so well that there was NOT ONE HITCH in the entire plan.

We had an outstanding  and humorous bus driver, a bathroom on the bus, and we enjoyed total comfort on the journey.

The show was great – the quilts were amazing – there were LOTS OF QUILTY GOODIES to shop for – and there were lots of friends, old and new, to hug and ooh and ahh with.  It was my first trip to the Hampton Quilt Show, but it won’t be my last.   LOVED IT!

I came home with a rug hooking book – HM – I really NEEDED another creative outlet.  I have wanted to learn to do this for years – so this is another thing off my BUCKET LIST.  Let’s see – I still need to knit a pair of socks, visit Alaska, Rhode Island and Ireland…..and then I will have to start on a NEW BUCKET LIST.  🙂

Hope you enjoy the pictures of the Feb. 09 Quilt Fest!

Silver Belle comes home

Silver Belle comes home

Today I welcomed SILVER BELLE into my garage…….I am now the proud momma to a new silver Ford Fusion….and the BMW is now but a sweet memory.  🙂  I went for the PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN – hope it helps the economy  path – and I am now a Ford owner.

I am excited to use the SYNC feature – so that I can answer my cellphone by pressing a button on the steering wheel.  I think that once I get this figured out the SYNC program will TELL ME when I need service, oil, and other “car things” that might be important.
I know for a fact that my dog, Pepper, likes to ride in the car…….
Pepper likes the new car!

Pepper likes the new car!

Grandangel Leanna loves the new car!

My grandangel, Leanna, went right to work reading the manual so we could figure out how to turn the CHILD LOCKS off the back seat doors so that my daughter could get OUT OF THE CAR….LOL.  🙂  What a concept – read the manual.  Silly me was sitting there pushing buttons to no avail.
LIFE IS GOOD – I am happy – and I hope my BMW finds a new LOVING HOME.  :}

The Corolla, NC Beach Retreat, February, 2009

Posted By on February 24, 2009

We had a wonderful time at the beach in Corolla, North Carolina the past few days.  We quilted, we ate some fantastic brunches and dinners , we laughed, we sewed, there was even a walker or two to be seen on the beach.   I loved the sunrises and the sunsets – the dolphins playing in the ocean – and the fire in the fireplace on the cool mornings!  We even had a Mardi Gras dinner that was festive and fun.  I am convinced that quilters are some of the nicest people on earth! You can see Christy’s Tern of the Century Beach House at www.greywolfllc.com

Near the end of the pictures you will see some monogrammed clogs (worn by Karen) and the fun part is that Karen’s daughter sells them.  I think I am going to have to order a pair – they are so cute!  You can contact Bridget DuMont by e-mail (bridget.dumont@gmail.com) and see more of her designs at www.DuMontDesigns.net

We sure had some inspiring quilt creations!  I just wanted to make everything that I saw anyone else make!  You can see some of Augusta Cole’s patterns at www.augustacolequilting.com and Karen DuMont’s patterns can be found at www.Kariepatch.com

I want to take this opportunity to remind and ENCOURAGE all quilters to take TWO sewing machines to every quilting event.  I did – and both my Singer Featherweight and my Hello Kitty Sewing Machines STOPPED WORKING – can you BELIEVE IT?  I guess this means I am OUT of the KIT KAT CLUB!  sigh….:)  HM…I still have my Hello Kitty Lunch Box!  I wonder if this means that I can be an honorary member?

Thankfully, my new bff, Judy, loaned me her Singer Featherweight so that I could keep up my sewing production.  I managed to get my MILKY WAY top (designed by Augusta Cole) together – it is from our January Cutting Bee.  I SO LOVE THIS QUILT.

I had a bit of car “adventure” on the way home from the beach…….so if I were a superstitious person I might suspect that I was possessed on this trip.  Two sewing machines down the tubes, a roommate who had a major car mishap, and my own car that is not on my LIST OF FAVORITE THINGS anymore…..ie, it made my LIST OF NOT SO FAVORITE THINGS – and there are very few things on this list.  :):)

THANK YOU Judy, for loaning me your sewing machine.

THANK YOU Jackie for the two eggs because I left mine at home and needed them for brunch!

THANK YOU Augusta, for taking my Singer Featherweight home for your husband to look at and for your MILKY WAY PATTERN!

THANK YOU Barbara, for being my roommate and “cooking partner.”

THANK YOU Christy, for letting us enjoy your fantastic beach home and for the sewing/gardening carriers.

THANK YOU Baron (the Great Dane who now has my heart) for the photo ops.  He is such a precious puppy!

THANK YOU Karen and Augusta for the informative demos!

THANK YOU EVERYONE for the fun, good food, inspiration, and giggles!

And THANKS to Tommy (AAA – the best tow truck driver ever) and his buddies in Kitty Hawk (SETO’S SERVICE CENTER) who fixed my BMW – without  these folks, I might STILL be stranded by the side of the road.  🙂

Enjoy the pictures and the fun through my pictures!  Remember to click twice to see enlarged versions of the pictures.
