Happy Thanksgiving from Midlothian, Virginia. We are all so blessed and thankful for each and every one of our family and friends. Here we all are (including our furry people) wishing you a wonderful time today and always.

Greg, Sarah, Cooper and SAO ran the FIRST ANNUAL TURKEY TROT MILE a bit ago….here we are ready to begin. We were the only ones in the race – just a little family run! LOL

Sarah and I had fun making an apple and pecan pie – and in the background you will see the pumpkin muffins – anyone ready for dessert? We are still preparing our food here in Midlothian – just wanted to pop in and tell our family members (and friends) far and wide, that we are thinking of all of you today!

Marla, Ginger and I have had “GO TO THE MILLSTONE QUILT SHOP” on our to do list for a long time and today was the day that we had marked on our calendars to do it! So off we drove this morning to Mechanicsville, VA – with sunshiney faces – and I had visions of fabric and Christmas flannel for pajamas dancing in my head!
Well, Millstone was closed for Thanksgiving so we could only peep through the windows – but we really enjoyed looking! The decor was rustic country – and on the outside, nailed to the rafters, there was a wonderful collection of old buckles and other goodies. The little stream running along side of the quilt shop was so beautiful – and we got to see the area where they have barbecues! We will definitely return sometime – when it is open! It was fun seeing the beautiful Mechanicsville farmland – and I just happened to have my camera along…….LOL
Our BACK UP plan (that we developed quickly) was to visit Quilting Adventures – another quilt shop that none of us had been to before. There I found a felting needle and some wool – so now I can practice making a pin chushion! YEAH. I took a few pictures while we were there!
We finished our day with a visit to one of our favorite cafes (CAFE CATURRA in Midlothian, VA) for soup and sandwiches and the food tasted even better with an open fire crackling in the background. Yes, it is on my LIST OF FAVORITE THINGS! After lunch we moved on to QUILTER’S CORNER – our favorite quilt shop of them all! We always meet some of the BEST people there! 🙂
And I just happened to find myself in the Midlothian Antiques Mall afterward – LOL – where I ran into Marla, who just HAPPENED to find herself in the same store. I don’t know about Marla – but I had LOTS OF FUN in there!
We had a wonderful time today even though it wasn’t exactly what we had planned. Serendipity can be an exciting thing!!!

I am so excited – look what I got in the mail….a precious little box which contained my 2008 pin – and actually it has a quite sizeable bail so it can be worn on a chain as well! I was actually pretty impressed with this box (it doesn’t take a whole lot to make me happy!)

My P. Buckley Moss Pin Box
I got my membership card for the P. Buckley Moss Society in the mail too. I LOVE THE CARD – just look at the back of the card below – it is a tiny work of art!!!! AND…if the membership card weren’t enough, just look at the little pin. I lOVE this annual pin (a cute little scarecrow surrounded by cats – now is this cute or what!!!)

Hip Hip Hooray – the Thimbleberries 2008 Quilt is put together and is now on Sara’s 2009 QUILTING TO DO LIST!
Here it is! As always, I didn’t do it EXACTLY like THE PLAN – I left out the two extra inner borders on the top and bottom of the quilt – but it is 102″ by 102″ and I thought that was LARGE ENOUGH!

I also got Fred’s Boxy Stars Quilt from Sara (Scrappy Sisters) on Sunday! It is ready to bind and then I will be taking it to KC, MO in few days. I feel pretty confident that my brother will NOT read my blog, so this should be a surprise. You may recognize this – it is one of Bonnie Hunter’s (quiltville.com) designs but it looks a lot different when it is done totally scrappy.

The back of the quilt is a HOOT – made from my brother’s PLAIN WHITE AND GREY T-SHIRTS (he never wears any other kind)…..and Sara even left one pocket partially unquilted so I that I could put a PEN in the pocket – too funny! You can clearly see the Baptist Fan quilting pattern that Sara used. I really like it.

I had to get a close up of the pen in the pocket! Girls just GOTTA have fun, right? LOL
Hannah Fay loves it SO MUCH that she climbed up onto the ironing table and took a little nap!
