We had a great day today and Quilter’s Corner was festive with beautiful quilts and the clubhouse was decorated for the fall festivities.

Marla, Ginger, and I had so much fun visiting with friends, old and new, and we even got to see some of our visitor’s show and tell quilts!  There were lots of beautiful quilts on display – so if you need inspiration, Quilter’s Corner is the place to visit!

Our youngest visitor today was 3 weeks old (pictured below in her mom’s ring sling) and we had one visitor from Memphis, Tennessee.  It was all great!  If you live in the area come join us Friday, Saturday or Sunday and we will feed you pumpkin bread, chocolate chip cookies and brownies!  Oh yes, and coffee and lemonade!

The last photos are of  some new black and white fabric – it is gorgeous – and my Birth of a Sampler Quilt – I got the binding put on today….YEAH!  If you are interested there is going to be another BIRTH OF A SAMPLER QUILT CLASS offered soon – check the Quilter’s Corner website on my blog for details!

Cuddles Tinkerbelle’s CAKE RECIPE – Chocolate Cake in a Mug

Posted By on October 12, 2008

Since it is my cat’s, CUDDLES TINKERBELLE, birthday, I thought that I should share her birthday cake recipe.

AND….just for the record, the furry people do NOT EAT the chocolate cake – only their pet people!

CHOCOLATE CAKE IN A MUG

I LARGE Coffee Mug

(dump all the ingredients in and mix everything in the mug)

4 T non rising flour

4 T sugar (I used 2)

2 T Cocoa

1 egg

3 T milk

3 T oil (I used olive oil)

3 HEAPING T chocolate chips

2 T vanilla

sprinkle with cinnamon

Cook in MICROWAVE for 3 minutes.

Do not be alarmed if the cake rises OVER THE MUG.

Put onto a plate or enjoy in the mug.

If you USED AN OVERSIZED LARGE MUG, there will be room for VANILLA ICE CREAM AND CHOCOLATE SYRUP!

I will warn you that the inside of the mug isn’t PRETTY because of the explosion of the chocolate during the baking process – but if you fill the mug with ice cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup, who will know!!!

If you click on the pictures you will see them full sized!

It is really YUMMY!!!  And chocolate cake has no calories when you eat it for breakfast on someone’s birthday……and if you believe that, I have some ocean front property in Arizona for sale cheap!!!!

PARADE OF HOMES 2008

Posted By on October 12, 2008

If you aren’t my parents, you may want to skip this blog.  Just for them, I am showing some of the homes that we saw yesterday on our tour of new homes!  I included a picture of a doorknob that I liked and also some hanging arrangements that I thought were fun.  I am now going to be on a SEARCH MISSION to find a rusty old iron gate to hang quilty things from!

One of the homes was decorated outside with a little pumpkin patch – and the kids all got to choose a pumpkin to take home.  Wasn’t that NICE!!

My favorite house was the yellow Victorian one………now where did I put that extra million dollars that I was saving for a rainy day!

Oh my – my LEAST favorite house was the one that looked like it was painted with baby food spinach!  I actually LOVE SPINACH – even cold, right out of a can, in addition to the healthy fresh raw presentation – but on my house – I am not so sure it would be my cup of tea!

Of course the furry people celebrated with TEMPTATIONS TREATS – their favorite!

Pepper (dog), Cuddles, Midnight, and Oreo

There was entertainment at the birthday party – Oreo dressed up in her Halloween costume – cute little witch, isn’t she!?  Oreo had her 2nd birthday this summer.

Oreo didn’t much like the hat!  She did let grandangel Sarah hold her for a picture!

They are having fun playing with their birthday mice!  (The pretend kind filled with catnip.)  I am afraid Pepper (the dog) is having an identity crisis.  HE LIKES CATNIP MICE!  🙂
