The SUMMER MYSTERY 2011 is on my Design Floor this week  – the last clues! I really like this Fabricaholics Mystery Quilt designed by Marge Gordon.

Here is a preview of what I will be doing this week!  All of these points going in different directions are going to keep me on my toes….if you TOO have DIRECTIONAL DYSLEXIA, you know what I mean.  YIKES!  (By the way, I made up the diagnosis of Directional Dyslexia to explain why I get lost all of the time!  It probably won’t do any good to GOOGLE it!  :))

PS

DO YOU REMEMBER MY POST ABOUT MY WONDERFUL TOMATO GARDEN?  WELL WONDERFUL IS A “RELATIVE TERM!”

I may not get a lot of quilting done this week because I have some VERY IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO….like to continue to torture my visiting California grandangels with my yellow tomatoes.

I am GUESSING Grandangel Collin doesn't like it!

NO MORE YELLOW TOMATOES!

7 year old Jannae is a TROOPER - her first tomato ever!

Oops - her LAST TOMATO EVER!

DD Jan thinks my tomatos are HEAVENLY!

MOST nice grandmothers give their grandangels brownies, ice cream or cookies!  At least their mom is nice…..DD Jan made a peach pie – and DH Max was pretty happy about that!

Jan's peach pie made Dad Max happy!!!

And Then I Laughed…….

Jan, one of my daughters in CA,  reminded me a couple of nights ago about my “weird” sense of humor.

Why would she say a thing like that?  Well, you see, I tried the CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON at the Orange Country Fair two years ago and broke part of my tooth off.  (The frozen chocolate covered bacon was quite hard!)

I commented that “this bacon sure is crunchy….” only to find out that I was crunching on part of my tooth.  Well, this threw me into a fit of giggles that burst forth throughout the rest of the day and night.  (I wasn’t laughing at the antics of the clowns at the fair either……it was just hysterical to me that I was going to have to tell a dentist HOW I broke my tooth……a grown woman……well, it seemed funny at the time.)

I am going to try this CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON!!

ME - BEFORE I broke the tooth!

It was SO GOOD - AND VERY CRUNCHY!

To cheer myself up (although that is admittedly ironic because what made me THINK that I NEEDED to be cheered up) I bedazzled my foot cast…..and then my grandangel, Jannae, gave me a very colorful painted tattoo.  Boy, was I ever happy!

Well, this morning……..I was told by the  YIKES APPLIANCE expert that the fridge was FROZEN and that is why water wouldn’t come out of the door……  All I needed to do was to get a new seal and turn the fridge and freezer off for 24 hours.  Now I know why they named their business YIKES!

What did I do?  I laughed for two hours while I emptied the fridge and freezer……yes I laughed until I was almost sick.  Then I laughed because I was laughing and, honestly,  I really didn’t think it was that funny!  I said, “Self, you need to get a grip.”

Then I stepped into the dog’s water bowl and spilled it all over the floor.  YES, you guessed it – another fit of laughter.  HAVE I LOST IT?

The EMPTY Fridge and Freezer

OK – SO HOW HARD IS IT TO TURN OFF A FRIDGE?

I set it to zero and the setting on the front of the door assures me that it is now OFF – but if it is REALLY OFF then WHY ARE THE LIGHTS STILL ON?

The logical thing to do would be to unplug it……but believe it or not, I CANNOT GET THE PLUG OUT OF THE WALL.  When the YIKES APPLIANCE expert returns with the new seal, I am going to swallow my pride and ask if he will unplug the fridge for me so that the 24 hours of OFF can begin.  I only hope that I can plug it back in!!!

AND THESE KINDS OF THINGS NEVER HAPPEN WHEN YOU HAVEN’T SHOPPED FOR VISITING FAMILY FROM CALIFORNIA…….LOL.  Yes, I really am literally rolling on the floor laughing.  Maybe it is the sugar…..I had to eat TWO FRUIT BARS because I ran out of room in the freezer in the garage.

Will I be able to get the freezer door in the garage closed?

Well, maybe the $100 bill will get me to stop laughing…..eventually!

DD Christi and SIL Greg – aren’t you glad that you are on vacation?  When you return, you will have a VERY CLEAN FRIDGE!!!  :):)  LOL  And I have just one question……why do we have frozen light up necklace wand/bands in the freezer?

On my Design Floor this week I have THE FABRICAHOLICS SUMMER MYSTERY 2011  – CLUE #5  – designed  and hosted by Marge Gordon.

I absolutely love to make mystery quilts…..it is ever so much more fun for me if I don’t know what the quilt will look like when I am finished!  Anything for excitement, right!

Clue 5 Summer Mystery

This is what the quilt piece will look like after I FINISH CLUE 5…..but first……

I have to UNSEW all of CLUE 3 and CLUE 4

YES UNSEW AS IN RIP APART – DISASSEMBLE – DECONSTRUCT – SEWING GONE WRONG!  Below you will see my CLUE 3 pieces all sewn INCORRECTLY…………..this picture was taken before I sewed these pieces to the flying geese pieces……..

Need to UNSEW Clue 3

Have you EVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE?

I should be sad – or frustrated…….but I can’t stop laughing.  I am ONLY LAUGHING because it is such a RIDICULOUS FAUX PAS.  You see, in the COLOR INSTRUCTION SHEET, Marge’s FOCUS FABRIC IS RED…..and it is sewn at the top…….and I did just that…..the only problem is that MY FOCUS FABRIC IS NOT RED.

MY FOCUS FABRIC  IS THE BLUE DOTS….but I am also using RED as my COLOR B.  So, that is what happened!

Confused?  Apparently I was……..I very carefully sewed each and EVERY ONE OF MY 64 blocks WRONG…..and the I sewed EACH OF THESE to the next step WRONG.   So…….my week will be devoted to correcting a COMEDY OF ERRORS!
