Talk About News…….

Posted By on May 2, 2011

The past few days we have certainly not been at a loss for news.

May 1 – my son celebrated his birthday…..by going dirt bike riding with his four sons.

My son Rob and my daddy JBA

And on May 1 my niece celebrated her 4th birthday….

Happy Birthday!

Two birthdays on MAY 1 – and before the day was over we heard from President Obama that Osama bin Laden had been found and buried at sea.

First I have to say THANK YOU to the NAVY SEALS and to our administration for finding Osama bin Laden.    This photo was taken from the internet to depict the kind of training that the Navy Seals engage in.  What BRAVERY – what expertise.  The world is in awe of this historical epic event!

AND ON A LIGHTER NOTE….and only one day earlier,  a lot of us were focused on the ROYAL WEDDING of William and Catherine – future King and Queen of England

I love FRUITCAKE…..but wowee……..isn’t this something?  William and Kate’s wedding cake is making me have a POWERFUL CRAVING for fruitcake.

But where oh where do you find fruitcake in May!?

They say laughter is the BEST MEDICINE….ok so to cure and/or distract myself from my fruitcake craving (because I am PRETTY SURE I won’t be finding myself a fruitcake) I am going to focus on this wedding photo…….don’t you just LOVE this little flower girl’s expression!?

Patchwork Times UFO Challenge #4 for April 2011

Posted By on April 30, 2011

My UFO Challenge Quilt #4 on the Patchwork Times list is an  Eleanor Burns pattern that I called Eleanor Burns Strippy Scrappy Quilt#3.   (This is her pattern where you make 3 quilts out of one jelly roll….pretty cool.)

The top is finished and it is with one of my long arm quilters as we speak!   When the top is finished, it feels pretty much finished to me.

I can’t wait to see what number on our UFO LIST that we are going to do for May!

Grandangel Excitement

Posted By on April 28, 2011

OH MY GOODNESS – exciting times.

LOOK – LOOK – LOOK – grandangel Harry is driving…..it makes me want to move back to CALIFORNIA so he can take me on HARRY’S NIGHT OUT (I used to take the grandangels on GRANDMA’S NIGHT OUT – and when Harry was 4 he told me that since I had been nice to him “ALL THESE YEARS” that he was going to take me on Harry’s Night out…….and now it is a real possibility.   He can drive – and hey, I might even get a “prize.”  🙂

EXCITING TIMES….

And Grandangel Shirley Anne got her ears pierced….. at six years old she is VERY BRAVE.  My son, not so much, he said he “couldn’t look.”

Shirley Anne is so smart and funny – and SHE HAS A MAP IN HER HEAD (she says Grandma Shirley does NOT have maps in her head and that is why she gets LOST all of the time!)

EXCITING TIMES!

Grandangel Lacy is graduating from Berkeley!  Oh no, it can’t be true….isn’t she  STILL that little girl sitting on the bed singing (he was thrilled as you can see) to her brother?

Guess I have to face reality – she is smart, beautiful and all grown up!  (She still reminds me of LUCY – of “I love Lucy!”)

EXCITING TIMES!

Grandangel Fun

One of my favorite things (yes it is on my LIST OF FAVORITE THINGS!) is sewing with my grandangels.

Sarah made MAY (her little webkinz lamb) a sundress and bonnet for Easter…….she used the rotary cutter alone (for the first time) and she also used my Brother Duetta sewing machine – ALL ALONE!   I am so proud of her…..look at the cute little lamb!  I used to make doll clothes all of the time when I was young…. did anyone else ever do that?

Good Job Sarah!

Then Cooper had to make Bobby *his Webkinz Frog some AFRO HAIR and some leg warmers.  He wanted to use only RECYCLABLE fabric…….(he told me that he only likes to use recycled material for his art work….LOL..:)

I think he did a great job!  Look at Bobby’s afro hair style! 🙂
