#10 UFO from Patchwork Times Challenge is COMPLETE

Posted By on February 23, 2011

With a little  (to be honest it was a lot of)  help from my friend, design consultant, teacher, and embellishment coach (Catherine) I finished my embellished GREEN CHRISTMAS FAIRY WALL HANGING – #10 on the PATCHWORK TIMES UFO CHALLENGE LIST!’

This little fairy wallhanging features embroidery,  beads, buttons, a paper crown, a felt skirt and organza ribbons – it looks sparkly in person!!!

WHOO HOO…..I am keeping up so far.  I wonder what number will be CHOSEN for March……. but I am going to enjoy being caught up for the time being!

Quilt Camp 2011 – Table Settings and Food

Posted By on February 22, 2011

Some of my favorite times at Quilt Camp centered around meal times.  It was our time of sharing and the meal time laughter was so nourishing  for the soul!

The table settings and the special “treats” were lots of fun too – and I learned how to make a KEY LIME PIE!  Thanks Karen!  Among other things we had a  barbecue dinner in a jar (so creative with little huggies wrapped around each jar and our names were embroidered on them)

…..and we all got the cutest little blue crabs and PAPER PIECED table pads!

We had yummy real desserts – (and a pretend SUNDAE made out of a dish cloth and little strippies of cloth!! :):))  Notice the darling little aprons for wine bottles and the festive cherry napkins with napkin rings (a Karen Dumont Pattern.)   Some of us are already thinking about what creations will be revealed next year!

Some of my favorite menu items  were delicious to-die-for dips and I even spotted a container of “dried plums” for those quilters with special needs!

I am making myself hungry right now just thinking about it all.  How many more days until Quilt Camp 2012?

Quilt Camp 2011 – BEAUTY and the BEACH

Posted By on February 22, 2011

I just decided to add a BEACH HOUSE to my wish list.  I also want a goat…..I wonder if a person could keep a goat on beachfront property?  Sigh….probably not!  Seriously, I would really like to live at the beach!  I wouldn’t even complain about the task of binding quilts if I could plop down in a big comfy chair in front of a BIG WINDOW.  I could look at the birds and the waves…….and sew with the sound of the waves in the background  (it really was nice!)

I took these pictures while at Quilt Camp in North Carolina…….every sunrise and sunset was an event to celebrate.  So, until I get my BEACH HOUSE I will just have to settle for looking at my pictures!

Quilt Camp 2011 – Minnie

Posted By on February 22, 2011

Every year Christy brings one of her furry babies to quilt camp – this year it was Minnie’s turn.  I LOVE THIS GREAT DANE!  Minnie is absolutely adorable – gentle,  affectionate, and smart.  I asked Christy how she decided who would get to be our special mascot at Quilt Camp and she said whoever got into the shower got to go…..this year Minnie got into the shower!

You will have to admit that Minnie is quite photogenic!

Quilt Camp 2011 – Faces of Happy Quilters

Posted By on February 21, 2011

Look at all of these happy quilt camp faces!  I think quilters must be some of the nicest people (eager to help one another – quick to laugh and share wonderful life stories!)   I had a fabulous roomie – thanks Karen!

We had some wonderful health outcomes to celebrate with each other – and lots of side splitting secrets and humorous events to share!

I am still giggling over the quilter *not mentioning any names* who got on the WRONG BUS going to New York!  This same VERY FAMOUS pattern designer and quilter chased a train in order to wave at her family members *and this was captured on film – no kidding!

Here are just a few shots of these happy QUILT CAMP QUILTERS of 2011!  Your photographer (sao) tried to capture the most flattering moments – enjoy the memories!
