Connect the Dots Progress

Posted By on November 13, 2010

I have the first 3 1 1/2 inch borders on my Connect the Dots quilt.  Several people have e-mailed me asking for the pattern.  You can find it at Patchworktimes.com and the pattern is designed by Judy L.  When you get to the site just search for CONNECT THE DOTS!

And while you are there, you just MIGHT decide to join the Socks Knit A Long.  :):)  Stay tuned – I still have not  given up!

I am really liking this quilt…..and now for the pieced border – all 1 1/2″ squares and 1 1/2 x 2 1/2″ rectangles in 4 patches – it will be wonderful, I just know it!!!!

Max – and other success stories

Posted By on November 7, 2010

For those of you who do not know, my DH, Max, had a mini-stroke Tuesday.  It immediately made my LIST OF MY NOT SO FAVORITE THINGS.  It was pretty scary.  For awhile he couldn’t write or talk.  I AM SO THANKFUL AND HAPPY TO SAY THAT HE HAS RECOVERED – and we are at home!  He appears to have no permanent brain damage and we are hoping the new meds will be effective.

Max says hello to our family and friends

WE LOVE THIS HOSPITAL – we got such good care and good food too!  Thanks Bon Secours!

Life is fragile – just another reason to be thankful and appreciate each moment.  AND GET ALL OF YOUR IMPORTANT PAPERS FILED…….(Max and I have been working on that today!  I could NOT FIND his health care directive!!!!)

WE LOVE THIS HOSPITAL

OK – so Max is my first success story – and now for my quilty report!

I am so excited for Bonnie K. Hunter’s ROLL ROLL COTTON BOLL Mystery (you can join in on the fun – just go to www.quiltville.com to see the fabric requirements listed.)  The first clue is expected November 19…….here are some fabrics that I am considering……

Auditioning Fabric for Connect the Dots Quilt

Since I was NOT having a lot of luck with my SOCK KNITTING, I decided to tackle Judy L’s CONNECT THE DOTS MYSTERY.  So I auditioned some fabric and went to Patchworktimes. com ….and VOILA

LOOK WHAT I HAVE ON MY DESIGN FLOOR NOW!  I didn’t end up using the green fabric – I discovered some nice teal fabric with hints of gold  Jinny Beyer fabric in my stash – and I used that and love it….

Connect the Dots on my Design Floor

And now I am going to tackle the pieced border – hey anything that has those little 1 1/2″ pieces is a GOOD THING – right?  THANKS JUDY L FOR THIS FABULOUS PATTERN!!!

ONE MORE SUCCESS STORY (I am trying to cheer myself up because  I don’t have any KNITTED SOCKS to show…..)

Part of the Pink Milky Way on my DESIGN FLOOR

I have nine blocks of my PINK MILKY WAY finished.  I love this pattern!   I had quite a lot of pink in my stash and I have also collected some of the pink fabric from Augusta Cole’s CUTTING BEE (and I will be enjoying my THIRD CUTTING BEE WITH AUGUSTA January 29 – yes it is already on my calendar for 2011.)  SO I am pretty happy with my success stories……

:):)

sao and PROGRESS ON THE SOCK KNITTING

Posted By on November 7, 2010

OK – so November 1, the sock knit along began (hosted by Judy L of Patchworktimes.com) and I have been having fun reading about the progress of these knitters.

ME YOU ASK?  Well, let’s see, it is November 7 and here is my progress.  🙂

My problem?  I keep getting my yarn tangled and I can’t figure out which of my needles that I need to use next.  BUT….there is hope because after starting over too many times I think I have it figured out.  My circular needle cables are too long….they are both 40″ and I just read the instructions – one should be 16″ and one should be 24″.  What a concept….reading the instructions!!

Trust me – you will see a pair of knitted socks on this blog – someday.  And I think I am going to try putting each of the the two balls of yarn in a separate baggy…yes, that sounds like a good idea.

My daddy asked me recently if I had ever considered that I might have THAT DISEASE…..OCD……well, I am definitely perseverating on conquering this sock production issue!  Yes, I KNOW I could go out and buy a pair of socks……

…….and YES, I would rather be eating ice cream or piecing a quilt……but wait…..

I have had this on my TO DO LIST for two years – or three – now and I JUST HAVE TO KNIT THESE SOCKS.  It is my personal challenge to myself.  :):):)  I KNOW THAT I CAN DO THIS!  (I hope!)
