HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCH PEEEPS

Posted By on February 28, 2010

March is a big month  for birthdays!!!!!

March 1, Miss Catherine (my friend, embellishment coach and quilting and crafting inspiration)  will be celebrating her birthday.  I hope someone makes her a cake FULLY EMBELLISHED……I think that I should have thought of that SOONER!    Maybe her doggie SYDNEY will take her out for ICE CREAM – I heard that Bruester’s makes DOGGIE SUNDAES…..:)

March 4, Grandangel William will be 12 years old……UNBELIEVABLE.  Where does the time go……..look how you have grown William….(and your dad has gained a few gray hairs along the way too!)

March 5 I have TWO quilting friends having birthdays on the same day – HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GINGER (no picture) – and also HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CAROLYN!!!  I hope it is a great day full of special fun and surprises.

Happy Birthday Carolyn

March 5 – wow – a big day for celebrating – my brother Dan and SIL Glenda are celebrating an anniversary!  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!   I found a picture taken New Year’s Eve while we were celebrating the NEW YEAR and the MOVE to the NEW HOUSE for Mother and Daddy, Fred and Elaine.  What a lot to celebrate!

March 7 my nephew, Andrew,  is having a birthday and he will officially have  passed 30 – Andrew I hope you have a wonderful birthday – and hopefully you won’t have to work on your birthday!  Here are pictures of Andrew (and sister Amanda)  BEFORE and AFTER growing up!

Andrew with his sister Amanda - LOVE THOSE CURLS!

In case I have non-family members reading this, Kerry is my SIL and Jim is my brother (I have three brothers! 🙂 )

I hope everyone has a great MARCH and it would be nice to have some signs of SPRING – right?  Yes, the lover of rain and snow is looking forward to the sound of birds and I wouldn’t even mind a few FLUTTERBYS on a few tulips either!  🙂

Last Basketball Games of the Season

Posted By on February 28, 2010

This is a family post – so quilting friends can skip on…….:)

Grandangels Sarah and Cooper played their final UPWARD basketball games on Saturday – and was it ever exciting.  Catherine joined us and I think she enjoyed it a lot too.  I am going to miss these games – it is good to have a place to go and CHEER!!!!  Some of the kids are really good and fierce too.  Some of the kids are quite entertaining, in fact!!!!

Catherine and I RAN to ARBY’S in between games – and yes, we managed to get in a little shopping afterward.  It was a great day!

I took a COUPLE of pictures!!  Yes, I sure did!!!  🙂 Sarah is the tall one wearing blue – and has a pony tail.  Cooper is the SHORTEST one on his team…

Memories GALORE CROP AND SHOP – til you DROP

Posted By on February 28, 2010

Friday night Catherine and I went to the Memories Galore PJ POTLUCK Shop and Crop from 6 pm until 6 am.  It was TOOOOO FUNNY because even though it was an ALL NIGHT PJ party, not one person wore PJs……..I actually thought about it but didn’t and I am so glad.  Can you imagine being the only clown in the circus!

We had a great time and we stayed until 3 am.  I would have stayed longer but there were too many FUN THINGS on the calendar for Saturday……….seriously, I really wasn’t winding down very much!

I got a lot done on Grandangel William’s photo book…..he will be 12 on March 4 and so I wanted to get lots done.  I took a FEW pictures of some of my photo pages.  Cahterine worked on her FANTABULOUS NEVER-SEEN-ANYTHING-LIKE-IT-OVER-THE-TOP Halloween book and she also worked on her postcards.  Memories Galore should SNATCH her as the artist in residence because I haven’t seen anything anywhere to equal Catherine’s creativity.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Hampton Quilt Festival

Posted By on February 26, 2010

Thursday was the first day of the Hampton Quilt Festival and WOWEE was it a good one….it still is and will be for a few more days, as a matter of fact!!!!  I am going to toss up some pictures quickly this morning so you can SEE FOR YOURSELF!  Catherine (her husband John – our chauffeur to the bus) and sao started our day in the parking lot of Target on Hull enjoying McDonald’s breakfast and watching the sunrise…..now if that isn’t a great way to start the day, I don’t know what is!

Catherine started me out laughing first thing Thursday morning.  She made the most BEAUTIFUL BAG (stay tuned for the class to learn how to make it coming to Quilting Adventures soon) – and then she chose her jewelry to match her new bag – and FINALLY she chose her outfit to go with the jewelry and bag.  What a role model…..I am lucky if I get my clothes on RIGHT SIDE OUT!!!  🙂  Her bags are in the first pictures…..the little brown bag woven with fibers and ribbons is the one that she wore!!

All kidding aside, it really was a wonderful day – we went up on the bus with the Hospitality Quilters from the Richmond Quilt Guild.  What a great way to go – no worries about parking and we were delivered right to the door.  Good job organizing the bus trip Carolyn!  Thanks to Susan at Quilter’s Corner for the gift certificates for DOOR PRIZES – well, let’s say BUS PRIZES for our ride home!!!!

I had to giggle a bit because at the show, a quilter from PA recognized CATHERINE from my blog and came over to say HI…..now that was a great surprise.  :):  That was fun!!!   What a small world it is!  Catherine was a great TOUR GUIDE for the QuiltFest – since she has been there many times she knew all of the best booths to look at…..and oh my, did we do some wonderful looking.  I was introduced to the WORLD OF FABULOUS BUTTONS and had fun choosing some wonderful ones to take home!

I don’t have time to caption my pictures this morning – but, I had two wall quilts on display in the CHALLENGE QUILT section – COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG and HOSPITALITY QUILTERS (look for Catherines quilt too – you will recognize them because we took pictures of us STANDING beside them….LOL!)

We celebrated Catherine’s birthday in Hampton (she will be celebrating again  March 1) and Carolyn H. is having a birthday soon – she won a bus prize for her birthday!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Catherine and Carolyn!!!!

I hope you ENJOY the day through pictures!!!!

MY QUILTY THINGS – WEEKLY REPORT

Posted By on February 21, 2010

I finished a baby quilt – 4 1/2 HST RIBBON QUILT for my neice’s baby – if SHE IS A GIRL.  I am going to make another one in case HE is a BOY!  :):)   I used 30’s fabrics and I hope it is cute.  I must admit that lavendar and green are not two of my most favorite colors, so I can’t tell if the quilt is cute or not – but these are the BABY’S COLORS if SHE is a GIRL!!!  Christi (my DD)  likes lavendar and green and she said she liked the quilt.

I have now officially finished 27 Curved Log Cabin blocks……and I have another string in progress.  This one takes a LONG TIME but I think I will really like it when it is finished!

And I finished my Main Street Houses Quilt – FOUR SEASONS.  This was a block swap – Susan made the Fall House, Marla made the Summer House, Chris made the Winter House, and I made the Spring House.  My little berries and flower centers didn’t look great after I appliqued them and so I sewed buttons on them – 44 of them.  I posted another picture of it but I think I just have to put ONE MORE UP!  I am so happy to have it finished and bound!  IT IS SUCH A GOOD FEELING!!!  I love to bind, I love to bind, I love to bind.  🙂
