If you give a mouse a cookie…..

I have been feeling a little bit like that mouse in the story ‘IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE….” you know – one thing just leads to another and the excitement and fascination is never ending….. This happens every time I go to FRESH MARKET – it is on my list of FAVORITE THINGS!
I am at a loss to explain this but I actually get emotional when I go to FRESH MARKET…..in fact I usually end up crying because I feel so happy when I am there! I cried Sunday – maybe it was the music – or the sample of MOLTEN CHOCOLATE COFFEE? Fresh Market also reminds me of California and I get a bit nostalgic……I don’t know. I went there Sunday to buy my DH an apple pie…….
…..but when I got there I had to take a picture of the flowers because they reminded me that flowers were probably blooming in California….
….and then I had to take a picture of the burlap bags – they were so cute…….but since I had gone to the Fresh Market to buy a pie, I couldn’t rationalize buying a bag………
…. when I got inside the store and saw the wasabi peas I just couldn’t help myself *and even though I was ONLY going to buy a pie, I just really needed those peas…….they just make my eyes water and I love them! In fact I love horseradish alone – even without the peas!!!
….and remembering that I had gone JUST FOR A PIE I journeyed on but got distracted by the sweet potato cakes…..they are SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD so I just couldn’t leave them at the store now, could I?
…. on the way to get the pie I saw these cherries *my DH loves cherries and so do I – and they were $2.00 off…..so I just couldn’t pass them up…..
and…..yes, I did get the pie and you will NOT BELIEVE THIS but I got the LAST APPLE PIE on the table……that was a close one! Max and I LOVE Fresh Market’s apple pie……………
San Marzano Tomatoes; Tahini; Artisan Bread of any kind; Pistachio loaf; hot dogs from the deli counter (best we have ever had); spices in smaller quantities; fresh ground peanut butter; fried okra; the freshest produce; tri tip beef; Chicago BIstro French Onion Soup mix – just a few things always on the Fresh Mkt List. I am with you on this – it is an emotional experience. When DWH says do we need to stop at Fresh Market for anything, I usually answer, “No, but I still want to go there.” Lucky you that you have all those wonderful places around you. Loved this post. I have been laying low for a couple days just trying to get over my birthday of people, eating too much, laughing, staying up late, talking with the grown grand kids and cooking all their favorite things. The kids kept eating and then would jog around the neighborhood. Too funny. JC
