Quilter’s Night Out February 4, 2011
Posted By drsao on February 5, 2011
Friday night was lots of fun at Quilter’s Corner in Midlothian, VA. We had QUILTER’S NIGHT OUT……lots of creativity, laughs, and “girl therapy!” I didn’t make it for the Day Time SIT AND STITCH EVENT because I was having fun subbing with the school children (and I really was having LOTS OF FUN!)
After I finished teaching, Catherine and I went to Noodles and Co for dinner. OH I LOVE THAT PLACE….it is on my LIST OF FAVORITE THINGS. It was so good I wanted to eat dinner ALL OVER AGAIN once I had finished! *KNOW WHAT I MEAN?
Catherine and I just ordered a small bowl of noodles each so that we would have room for SWEET FROG afterwards *Catherine calls it the GIDDY AMPHIBIAN!
…..oh my goodness. This yogurt place is WONDERFUL. It is all I can think about! Here are just SOME of the goodies that you can put on your yogurt….and I didn’t even get a picture of all of the fresh fruits!!!!
OH MY – the yogurt selections are wonderful …..I like the original tart flavor the best; but the peanut butter, pistachio and peach flavors were pretty special too! We have these yogurt bonanza’s in California and NOW I DO NOT HAVE TO WAIT until I travel clear across the United States to have this treat. If you go there, it will be on YOUR LIST OF FAVORITE THINGS TOO!
…..and I wanted to start ALL OVER filling my yogurt bowl after I had finished eating it! (It really wasn’t about being hungry either – it was about not wanting the YUMMIES to be over!) Am I the only one who oohs and aahs over their food?
All I can say is that it is a good thing that Catherine brought no calorie Valentine Candy Hearts to Quilter’s Night Out (they were plastic!!)
We all went BANANAS over this crib quilt (you can get the pattern at Quilter’s Corner!) Laura Blanchard is the designer.
Susan got fabric for at LEAST two of these quilts…..here is one set of fabric selection…..isn’t this fun!!!!! It seems like every fabric that we looked at all evening made us think of a potential ELEPHANT or a GIRAFFE!
Isn’t this clever? Pins made out of zippers. That was on my BUY LIST for last night – but I didn’t remember it until I got home! I KNEW there was something that I wanted but it stayed on the TIP OF MY TONGUE!!!
But these pins are EVER SO CUTE! I love the flower! The spider is pretty cute too though! You can buy the heavy duty zippers and the patterns too at Quilter’s Corner.
I have also started a NEW BLOG CATEGORY – MY WISH LIST. I think I really need a wooden red cart to store fabric in……and my DD and DSIL and/or my DH are going to faint when they learn that a goat is also on my wish list. (I am SERIOUS…..I really want a goat so that I can learn to harvest merino wool and knit with it!) HEY – if you are going to wish – don’t hold back!
My Christmas Fairy Wall Hanging is finished…..I can’t say that I FINISHED IT…..because Catherine really did the finishing part FOR ME! I did the ooohing and aaaahing though. Catherine added the darling apron and the crown (and the candy cane button garland) on the panel (and she also matted it for me. WHAT A FRIEND!) Don’t you love the little crown the Christmas Fairy is wearing? I had already affixed the crystals and did the leaf embroidery in a class that I took from Catherine last year. (Carolyn, did you ever finish YOUR ANGEL from that class?)
Speaking of crowns – Susan has a crown too (Catherine had a crown punch!) ……look! In the REAL OLDEN DAYS on TV there used to be a show called “QUEEN FOR A DAY!” So Susan was Queen for the Night last night! We haven’t told her about the hidden tv cameras yet! 🙂
Can you tell that this was a wonderful night? Well, it was, and I cannot BELIEVE how it ended. CATHERINE MADE ME A GREEN NEVER ENDING SCARF!
I am so SO SO TICKLED ABOUT THIS! Every year when I substitute teach (and it ALWAYS HAPPENS THAT I TEACH ON ST PATRICK’S DAY) I discover that I do not have ONE SINGLE THING IN MY POSSESSION THAT IS GREEN!
EVERY ….. and I mean EVERY….year I say, “Self, YOU MUST GET SOMETHING GREEN for next St. Patrick’s Day!” Here we are just a few weeks from the 2011 St Patrick’s Day and I still did not have anything green. Catherine fixed that!!!!! I will no longer be pinched (or be embarrassed because I wore a CHRISTMAS TREE NECKLACE) on St. Patrick’s Day!
I hope EVERYONE has a good friend like Catherine!
Love all your pictures – laughed over your food choices and how passionate you are about them. The wish list is very thought provoking – I will need to give some thought to this idea as I can’t imagine what it would be for me.
How does Catherine make those scarves? So beautiful – wonder if I can Google them.
Most of us spend a lifetime looking for a friend like Catherine – you are so fortunate to have found her. Your descriptions and observations makes us all want to have a Catherine in our life. She is such a happy and postivie person. Would love to be in the same room with you two sometime. Judy C
Another quick message – I am on a new computer and things keep getting misspelled so please “read between the lines.” Guess, I do not do well with change.
