Scrappy Bargello Super Bowl 2008

Posted By on February 3, 2008

Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.com has organized yet another online quilt party in cyberspace……a Scrappy Bargello Super Bowl 2008 Quilt that we all made together – from far and wide across the world.  It sounded like fun to me so I got busy and cut my 128  2 1/2 inch x 16 inch strips.  Since my “tendency toward having control, coupled with a strong need for organization” interfered with a totally randomized scrappy pattern;  I made a PSEUDO SCRAPPY PLANNED RANDOMIZED Bargello.

Here are my strips – because I hoped to have a  wave effect, I cut four strips of each color…..so each panel had the same materials and in the same position.    The cats (Cuddles TinkerBELLE and Midnight) were onhand to help! I think they really love the colors in this quilt.

The first Bargello strip is sewn together here – and it was time to make a tube and cut the large panel into six 2 1/2″ strips.  The First Bargello Strip is Sewn Together

This was a bit scary to cut into this panel – I had never done this before!  I hoped that  it would work out!

This was really exciting – I just couldn’t believe that it was  actually beginning to look like a Bargello Quilt! Ready to cut the panel into 2 1/2″ strips The Bargello strips are ready to sew!

Here is the first panel – I am so pleased with it…..and now for the other three panels and the center of the Scrappy SuperBowl 2008 quilt is complete! I will probably add some kind of border later – but now for the Super Bowl 2008 – GO GIANTS!First Panel of the Bargello is sewn together…
