Millstone, Quilting Adventures, and Quilter’s Corner

Marla, Ginger and I have had “GO TO THE MILLSTONE QUILT SHOP” on our to do list for a long time and today was the day that we had marked on our calendars to do it!  So off we drove this morning to Mechanicsville, VA – with sunshiney faces – and I had  visions of fabric and Christmas flannel for pajamas  dancing in my head!

Well, Millstone was closed for Thanksgiving so we could only peep through the windows – but we really enjoyed looking!  The decor was rustic country – and on the outside, nailed to the rafters, there was a wonderful collection of old buckles and other goodies.  The little stream running along side of the quilt shop was so beautiful – and we got to see the area where they have barbecues!  We will definitely return sometime – when it is open!  It was fun seeing the beautiful Mechanicsville farmland – and I just happened to have my camera along…….LOL

Our BACK UP plan (that we developed quickly) was to visit Quilting Adventures – another quilt shop that none of us had been to before.  There I found a felting needle and some wool – so now I can practice making a pin chushion!  YEAH. I took a few pictures while we were there!

We finished our day with a visit to one of our favorite cafes  (CAFE CATURRA in Midlothian, VA) for soup and sandwiches and the food tasted even better with an open fire crackling in the background.  Yes, it is on my LIST OF FAVORITE THINGS!  After lunch we moved on to QUILTER’S CORNER – our favorite quilt shop of them all!  We always meet some of the BEST people there!  🙂

And I just happened to find myself in the Midlothian Antiques Mall afterward – LOL – where I ran into Marla, who just HAPPENED to find herself in the same store.  I don’t know about Marla – but I had LOTS OF FUN in there!

We had a wonderful time today even though it wasn’t exactly what we had planned.  Serendipity can be an exciting thing!!!
