Packing, Hair Cut, Show N Tell, Student of the Week and TTFN

Posted By on February 17, 2009

I am anticipating a great day tomorrow – I am going on a 3rd grade field trip to the Math and Science Center in Richmond.  I have never been before, so I am really looking forward to it – although as a substitute teacher I will have to say a few extra prayers that I don’t come home with fewer students than I left with…..or bring any extras back, for that matter!  When kids are EXCITED they can sometimes get lost easily…..or aggregated 🙂

And Thursday I am heading to the beach at 7:30 AM  for a few days of R and R – and a little bit of sewing.  Greta Garmin is ready to hit the road and as long as we stick together there is no chance of my getting lost!   However, if I were to get lost, I wouldn’t mind too much if there were an antique store nearby!    So, stay tuned for pictures.

As I have been getting “stuff” together I just had to giggle a little when I noticed that two of my cats were sitting on my suitcase….wonder if they are contemplating being stowaways!  When I opened my suitcase I just had to laugh – there were NOT ONE BUT TWO catnip filled mice inside!

I just had to show you my new haircut that I just got today.  THANKS TO CASSIE from Thimbleberries at Quilter’s Corner for recommending  her hair beautician, Amy,   at Waterford Hair.  I am VERY HAPPY with my hair cut.  My hair is MUCH curlier when it is shorter!

and…..TA DA…..here is the BACK of my Flannel Rug Quilt………I haven’t named it yet…but it is ever so warm, soft, and cuddly.  I will show the RIGHT SIDE when I clip all of the edges and wash it a few times so that it gets all raggedy!

TTFN and stay tuned for pictures from the beach……..now if I can only make up my mind what sewing projects to take……realistically, can I make six quilts in four days?  LOL

I was searching google images for rag rug tutorials, and your site came up (I guess due to the rag quilt).

Coincidentally enough, I was working on a big rag quilt myself an hour ago, lol! The only ones I’ve made so far have been for children – really bright colours. I’ve been wanting to do one in earth tones, burgundies, greens, etc. for my own bed, but hadn’t found a good “inspiration” picture to lead me in the right direction… so it was karma that brought this page up in my rag rug search, because I ADORE the colour combo you have done on this blanket!!! I hope you won’t mind if bookmark this page and use the photo of your quilt for inspiration when I eventually get started.

If you don’t mind me asking, what size are the squares? 7X7??

    Great job, looks beautiful!!
