QUILTY, FOOD and FAMILY STUFF

Posted By on October 8, 2010

I have been having fun working on my SECOND Bonnie Hunter Carolina Crossroads Quilt – but I am not showing many pictures yet – I am waiting for the BIG EFFECT at the end.  I had all of the blocks made and then decided that I LIKED IT SO MUCH that I was going to ENLARGE IT (don’t you hate it when that happens – I even had them all laid out ready to sew into rows.)  So I have started making OOODLES  (and I mean oodles – look at all of these 1 1/2″ squares in each block!) more of all of the pieces……STAY TUNED…..but here is a preview of what  four of the blocks look like……

I have fallen in love with the COLONIAL BLUE / BUTTERNUT combination and have my heart set on a quilt for myself with those colors…..maybe Bonnie’s NEXT MYSTERY?  It is coming in November…….are you joining along – if you want to do the mystery quilt you can find it at www.quiltville.com

Every month the Colonial Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Williamsburg has a block of the month.  You can make as many as you want and when you turn them in you get your name in a drawing for every block you turn in.  I have NEVER won yet – so I am just HOPING that this will be my TIME in November.  I made TWO of the blocks……  I just love stars and gold and blue would make a nice quilt.  SO……cross your fingers, kiss a shamrock, adopt a pet rock, do a quilt dance, or whatever else you can think of to bring me good luck.  I WANT TO WIN THE BLOCKS!!!! (Yes, I guess I was shouting a bit – I got excited!  :))

Ok – so moving on from QUILTY STUFF TO FOOD – look at this dinner.  ALL FRESH VEGGIES sauteed with jalapeno peppers, black pepper and olive oil.  OH MY WAS IT EVER GOOD.  Thanks Catherine for pointing out the package of fresh veggies at Tom Leonards for ONLY $1.99.  I can’t wait to go back and get more.  It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO YUMMY!

AND NOW FOR THE FAMILY STUFF…..

Every time I think about this I smile.  My grandangel, Leanna (AKA NANNA), just started high school this fall and she is really enjoying it.  Last week, each day dictated that they dress a certain way…..and mis-match day was my FAVORITE.  Just look – you have to smile…..isn’t it awful -ly GOOD!
