Since I moved to Virginia I have been a substitute teacher. It is really almost always a lot of fun and you just NEVER KNOW what will happen!!!
Several years ago I went into a kindergarten class to sub and was met by a VERY LARGE NOTE that said, “PLEASE DO NOT LET THE CHILDREN GET THE TARANTULA OUT OF THE AQUARIUM!” I nearly fainted. Sure enough there was a very large tarantula LOUNGING in an aquarium. And … I DID NOT LET THE CHILDREN GET IT OUT!!! :) It was very large and kind of cute and its name was CHILE…..really.
This week I was back in the SAME classroom and I just HAPPENED to have my camera with me…….so I took a picture of CHILE who went to spider heaven in 2007. This just makes me smile…..one of the joys of subbing. I love the excitement and the NEW EXPERIENCES……and how else would I have ever been this close to a tarantula!!!!
