What is on my DESIGN WALL this week?

Posted By on May 30, 2011

This week I am ready to sew all of my 120 log cabin blocks together…..they are made from 1 1/2″ strips for the dark side of the blocks…..and 1″ strips for the light.  YES YOU READ RIGHT – I SAID THE LIGHT STRIPS ARE 1″ WIDE!  This makes it look curvy.

YES 120 of these TINY BLOCKS are ready to be sewn together and are happily waiting on my DESIGN FLOOR.

Curved Log Cabin Blocks

When I get them together, it will look like this….I call it Augusta Cole’s quilt because I took a class from her to learn to make the curved log cabin blocks.  The layout that I am using is actually designed by Augusta’s first teacher,  Karen Pervier.  Augusta has the pattern for sale!  I just love it.

Now my HOPE is that I can get these blocks all lined up going in the correct orientation……I am directionally challenged, so this could be a LONG WEEK!  LOL  Seriously, I had to get both my SIL and my grandangels to help me lay out my LOG CABIN BLOCKS when I made a barnraising pattern.

Here is my BARN RAISING QUILT……I gave it to my son and daughter in CA – so I named it CALIFORNIA BARN RAISING!

It is my FIRST QUILT –  made

in March, 2007.  TA DA…

I love your first log cabin quilt and so glad son and daughter-in-law use it. Not sure about those 1″ strips on that other log cabin – I think me and thee would not get along trying to sew straight. Will certainly look for your finish. Great job. Judy C
