What’s on my Design Wall Monday, September 5, 2011

Posted By on September 4, 2011

My UFO assignment for September (according to my lucky number drawn by Judy Laquidara of Patchworktimes.com) is my Spiderweb Quilt.  This quilt was designed by Bonnie K. Hunter (and I took a workshop from her recently – well, sort of recently!)

So today I pulled out my big bag of scraps and started string piecing!  This is a great way to use up odds and ends of fabric in all sizes!  For some reason, I really enjoy using these little pieces.   (My sister-in-love, Kerry, might recognize a couple of brown and turquoise pieces from her king sized log cabin quilt that I made for her a few years ago!!!)

If you like it and want to make one too, you can get the pattern FREE on Bonnie K. Hunter’s website at www.quiltville.com

Where she has used pink, I am using black.  MAYBE THIS WILL BE MY HALLOWEEN QUILT!  Well, I need to get it finished in September if I don’t want to spoil my record.  So far I have finished my UFO each month since January!   But, alas, school starts Tuesday and I am once again a working woman – so we will see!

If you want to see what is on the design wall of quilters across the country go to www.patchworktimes.com

Happy sewing everyone – and have a safe and HAPPY LABOR DAY!

  1. Love the scrapy look to the quilt. I may just have to save that pattern, I am over flowing in scraps these days.

  8. I just finished a spiderweb quilt and found it very challenging to put together. But I didn’t sew it Bonnie’s way, so hopefully you will have an easier time of it!
