What’s on My Design Floor Monday, November 28, 2011

We are on Step 2 on our Orca Bay Quiltville Mystery Quilt designed by Bonnie Hunter.  This step involves paper piecing 3 1/2″ squares.  These are just the cutest pieces EVER and they are made with SCRAPS and STRIPS of fabric from 3/4″ wide to 1 1/2″ wide.  Making these barely makes a DENT in my scrap bag stash.  We need 72 and I am making two Orca Bay Quilts!  Here is a sample of my Orca Bay 1 and Orca Bay 2 Step 2 blocks!

Orca Bay 1 - Shades of Gold

Since this is a mystery quilt, I have no idea how these blocks will be used in the quilt….but I doubt that they will be sewn together like I have them pictured!

Orca Bay 2 - Shades of Green

Here are my finished Orca Bay 1 Step One Quarter-Square Triangles – 224 of them!

I just love how you put your colors together. Making two of these, bless your heart! Those gold and green strings are just so cute, not sure which one I like better. But I kept going back to those gold ones a few times. Just wonderful

  2. Bonnie says:

Good for you Shirley. I am not doing Orca Bay at this time although I am saving the steps. I’m finishing my Carolina Christmas… or at least getting farther along.

  3. Julie Kaye says:

Wow, you have been busy. TWO QUILTS (written with astonishment). Seriously your colors are great and I hope you have fun with both of them.

Two! You are amazing! Both your yellow and green blocks look great – can’t wait to see how they both turn out.

Wow two mystery quilts. I want to be like you will I grow up. I am still plugging away at clue 1. See you Saturday.
