sao’s Goals and Quilty Related Ideas FOR THE NEW YEAR 2012

Posted By on December 31, 2011

It is time to assess my 2011 Goals……..

I am happy – I was able to complete 12 UFO’s (quilts) this year – and that was what I had hoped for…..YEAH!  I had also hoped to knit a pair of socks – but alas after I knitted ONE……I lost it!  Seriously……and so I didn’t want to make another one because it didn’t have a mate……..(sound plausible?)

I also went to Camp Loopy Ewe (a virtual knitting camp) and completed a scarf…… and my brother, Dan, says it looks like my grandangel Leanna is wearing intestines around her neck.  So, I am not sure this is a GOOD THING that I made it because now I don’t know what to do with it.  It looks like intestines to me too.  ANY IDEAS?  WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THIS??????

Also at Campy Loopy I knitted two afghans…..

And tonight I sewed on all the missing buttons from my 2011 list (yes I really did!) I also finished a pleated skirt that I was making for Grandangel Leanna……so now I am READY for 2012!

I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions – but I do make lists of things that I would like to accomplish in each upcoming year.

NOT ON MY LIST this year will be to knit a pair of socks….LOL.  I will put that BACK on my list for 2013.  Hey, I am just being realistic.  I did make ONE SOCK in 2011 though – so I did accomplish HALF of that long term goal to knit a pair of socks!  And – just MAYBE  I will surprise myself and do it anyway!  YOU NEVER KNOW!

OK – so what IS on my 2012 TO DO LIST that is Quilty Related?

There seems to be so many worthy causes and so many opportunities that it is hard to choose where to focus one’s energies.  BUT….I have narrowed my options.

I am going to join in with Marge Gordon’s (Relay for Life and Fabricaholics Anonymous :)) Challenge to donate a quilt a month to a worthy cause or some charity.

To generate the quilts,  I am participating in the Color Palette Challenge (as seen on Judy Laquidara’s Blog at Patchworktimes.com.)  I figure that I can get creative with new color choices and donate my efforts!

I am also participating in the FREE MOTION CHALLENGE of 2012 so I can learn to do my own QUILTING – and donate those efforts!  I think I am ready for this!

My focus for charities will be FIRST AND FOREMOST – Ami Simm’s Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative……..  this is so important to me.  The money from the auction and sale of donated quilts goes to Alzheimer’s Research.

And I will continue to make ICU quilts for little babies born into the world with turmoil and strife.

Alycia Quilts – and Quilts of Valor is also one of my intended recipients.  I want to recognize the sacrifice and dedication of members of our troops who work tirelessly for us.  To learn more about Alycia and her dedication to this cause go to www.quiltygirl.com

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012  may all your dreams for the new year come true!

Socks – who needs knitted socks anyhow – they don’t mean anything, they are just knitted socks – let Judy L make all the knitted socks, maybe she would sell us a pair!!! I would certainly buy a pair. Stick with the afghans, they are beautiful and are lovely reminders of your talents to those who receive them.

I ove where you are going with your quilting this year. How many more quilts do we need? when there are others who need them more – Ami’s Alzheimer’s Quilt Iniative is very important “stuff.” I love the Quilt’s of Valor program and I will always do pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer, A Case for Smiles. As long as we can make quilts – we can make a difference. Happy New Year dear friend. Judy C
