“Alzheimer’s Illustrated: From Heartbreak To Hope” is a 236-quilt traveling exhibit about Alzheimer’s disease. It is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative, a nonprofit national charity run by volunteers whose mission is to raise awareness and fund research through art.

Images in this video were taken at the Hands Across The Valley quilt show where the exhibit premiered in March 2011.

The accompanying music was performed and recorded by AAQI supporter Doug Tessler for this video.

ALMOST Unbelievable Ads From The Past

I am speechless….

I have so much to say but I don’t know where to start….

Actually, I really have no words – except to say that  I am glad that I am living now and not then (although if the truth be known, I probably was alive then – but just not alive as a wife!)    Maybe this is why my DH often says that he was born too late!

Alzheimer’s Quilts

If you have ever had a family member or friend with Alzheimer’s Disease, you know how difficult this journey can be.  Here is a way that quilters are helping contribute monies for research to find a treatment and ultimately a cure.

Many of you know Sherry Whitford (one of the founders of the Colonial Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild of Williamsburg, VA.)   Sherry has  a quilt for sale thorugh the Alzheimer’s Art Initiative  It’s #6732 – second row, far right if you go to the link below.

HERE IS A PICTURE OF IT.  It is lovely!

Even if you don’t want to buy a little quilt, it is fun to see all of the designs and techniques that  quilt artists  have used and it is so nice that they have donated their quilts for this wonderful cause.

Click on the title of a quilt for a closer view; then click on the quilt for an enlargement.  The back arrow takes you back to the whole set of quilts.

Have fun and shop if you can!

Family Celebrations

I have always had the personal motto that FAMILY IS FOREVER and should be cherished.  I celebrate my relationships with my family and starting today we have a THREE-DAY RUN of special days.

My grandangel Leanna turned 15 today APRIL 16 – I love this girl!   Leanna is everything – and more – that anyone could hope for in a grandangel!    Here she is with me when we moved to VA – she was only 8 and  she was small.  Now she is almost as tall as I am!

Tomorrow  – APRIL 17 – is  the anniversary of my parents’ marriage.  Even though Mother went to heaven last May, we still want to remember and celebrate the happy times that they had in their 67 years of marriage.  We are so fortunate to have  parents who were so loving and who made such a wonderful family life for us all.  Here they are on their wedding day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!
