Waiting in Airports – ANOTHER FAVORITE THING

Posted By on January 22, 2008

Yes, you read that title correctly.  I LOVE waiting in airports. This is not an example of sarcasm, nor am I attempting to be funny.

I LOVE sitting in airports.  Weird?  Maybe not, let me explain. It is the PERFECT place to people watch (I love to see babies sleeping and people in love snuggling up together) , make new friends, shop, eat, knit, do quilting handpiecing, read, walk, doze (I love to drift in and out of that dream-like alpha stage of sleep!)

If I haven’t convinced you that I am not WEIRD, just wait until you hear this! I intentionally plan layovers so I will have plenty of time to engage in one of my FAVORITE THINGS – airport waiting

On January 16, I flew from Richmond, VA to Kansas City, MO via Atlanta.  I had a FOUR-HOUR LAYOVER.  It was WONDERFUL, and to top it all off, it both rained and snowed (more favorite things) and I had huge airport windows to gaze out of!  Is there too much of a good thing….maybe.

Because of the rain and snow I had an extra 3 hours added to my four-hour layover. I got to finish reading my new book ANOTHER DAY IN THE FRONTAL LOBE – a brain surgeon exposes life on the inside by neurosurgeon, Katrina Firlik.  It is a highly informative and entertaining book, if you are interested in the brain…..we all have one, so what’s not to like, I ask!  lol I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK (to read inside or outside of airports!)

On Thursday, January 24, I am returning to Richmond, VA from KC MO via Atlanta (The capital of UNEXPECTED LAYOVERS ON ATA) – and guess what – I have a 4 hour 40 minute layover –

TOO MUCH FUN!
