SUN BONNET SUE AND QUILTED NAME TAG FOR COUNTRY PIECEMAKERS
Posted By drsao on September 9, 2008
September 13 is the Country Piecemakers Quilt Guild Meeting – and my first one since I joined the guild….so I needed to make a SUN BONNET SUE BLOCK to represent me! Since my grandmothers were very special to me I used a block that my grandmother had made…….and I wrote on it “SCRAPBOOKING STYLE” to represent the things that I enjoy. My mother’s favorite color is orange…..so I thought this block was a good choice.
“Sue” is holding some 2″squares of fabric that she will NO DOUBT be sewing into quilt blocks and there is a LITTLE CAT BUTTON on TOP of the blocks – because every quilter who has a cat KNOWS that the cats like to lounge on the blocks! I have three cats so there had to be at least ONE CAT on my block. LOL
The second thing that I needed to make to be a guild member was a name tag. I stayed up until 2:45 am making this. I honestly wish that sleeping was not a necessary function because I really don’t like interrupting my FUN to go to sleep; but alas, knowing that I might get a call to teach, I reluctantly went to bed – but NOT BEFORE I FINISHED. Here is my QUILTED NAME TAG! You can’t see it very well, but I put one of my SUBSTITUTE TEACHER business cards as a background in the name tag.
sooooo cute!!!! I love Sun Bonnet Sue patterns!!!
I like your name tag. Do you sell a pattern for this or could you email me instructions on how to make it? I am taking an applique class and we are required to have a name tag and I love this one. Thanks for any help or advice you can give to me.
