Karen DuMont’s Trunk Show at Country Piecemaker’s Quilt Guild in Powhatan, VA

I really enjoyed seeing all of Karen DuMont’s quilts today at Country Piecemaker’s December meeting. She is SO TALENTED and creative! Several times today I just gasped – the quilts were that good! It was also really a lot of fun hearing her story and how she got to the point of being a household name – quilt designer. In fact she is a woman of many talents…..a master gardener, a dough artist and a quilt designer. She really cracked me up today when she said she DOUGHED, SEWED, and HOED. She DOUGHED in the daytime, SEWED at night, but only HOED on the weekends. :):):)
It was fun to hear how Sheddy inspired, encouraged, and lead Karen through her quilting career. I am proud to say that Karen taught me how to applique – at a class at Quilter’s Corner in Midlothian, VA. In the class I learned to make her dinosaur quilt! I have enjoyed appliquing ever since! She is a great teacher!
Her final quilt that she shared today – was her FIRST QUILT – made for her young son – and it was such a touching story to hear how her family treasured it to this day! We all LOVED the Budweiser sheet that she used for a backing.
THANKS KAREN – YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION! We love the dough art pins too! THANK YOU!
Karen is simply a joy and whata’ whimsical and heartful presentation, so much fun, so very inspirational………………….. It was quite the special day, so many blessings, it does a spirit good!
