Goodness – I haven’t posted pictures of my current projects for awhile – but I have been asked to update…….so here goes.

Inspired by the movement to GO GREEN and save on plastic and paper shopping bags (AND ENCOURAGED BY MY DD CHRISTI), I made FOUR shopping bags…….ta da

I am going to wait to hear from my DD Christi how these work.  I hope that they are sturdy and that they hold a lot.  It was fun to make them; however not too economical when you can buy GREEN BAGS at the various stores for between $1 to $3!!!  Of course, these are unique, one-of-a-kind bags.  🙂

I also finished the top of my Scrappy Chiclet Quilt……this has been in the works for 2 years – all 2″squares and 2″hst so it has been labor intensive…..however, I love those little squares!!!  As you can see I even made the sashing and cornerstones out of the 2″ squares.  Oh how I love these scrappy quilts – can’t explain it – I just DO!!!  I have this certain friend who does not like white – and so I KNOW she will not like this.  I heard her once say that she would DIE before using white for ANYTHING!  LOL.  🙂  I have to say that I had FUN making this and it was so relaxing to just sit and sew those blocks together WILLY NILLY – without a care in the world about anything matching.  The fun was in the memories from each if the snippets of fabric that I picked up!  I may have at least one 2″square of fabric from every quilt that I have made in this one!

The TOP of Mason's Baby Rag Quilt

Mason Tyler Cook was born April 28th and here is his Baby Flannel Rag Quilt – I had a picture on my blog of the back – but not the front with all of the curly frayed edges!

Lyla Scotty for the CP ICU Project

I finished the LYLA SCOTTY quilt for the Country Piecemaker’s ICU Community Project.

I also finished my ATC’s but they won’t be unveiled until May 23rd – so I will post a picture later alligator!!!

Singing in the Rain

I don’t know if this shows up very well, but there are saxophone and trumpet buttons, musical notes and treble clef buttons sewn on my SINGING IN THE RAIN QUILT (Thanks Catherine for the buttons. )   This was part of the MUSIC BEAUTIFUL MUSIC Country Piecemaker’s Quilt Challenge!  Singing in the Rain is my FAVORITE SONG (everyone who knows me well KNOWS that I LOVE RAIN) and some of my grandangels will tell you that they have vivid memories of riding with me in my mini-van (with the sun roof open and the rain falling INSIDE ON US) singing this song.  You will have to admit that it has happy lyrics – and if you were alive in 1929 (and I wasn’t) you might remember when this was a hit song.  It later became a movie in 1953 and some of us were around by then!!!  :):)

 Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo…

I’m singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feelin’
I’m happy again
I’m laughing at clouds
So dark up above
The sun’s in my heart
And I’m ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I’ve a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin’,
Singin’ in the rain

So, there you have it – my projects!!!!!

JUST A NOTE ABOUT FUTURE PROJECTS

I am so looking forward to my first POSTAGE STAMP BLOCK ONLINE BLOCK EXCHANGE (1 1/2″ squares.)  Subee, our hostess, will be mailing these May 15th – SOON SOON.  Don’t you just love when those SQUISHIES come in the mail.   I can’t wait to make Bonnie Hunter’s CRABAPPLE QUILT – yes, you guessed it, with 1 1/2″ squares.  The pattern is in Bonnie’s 2nd book “LEADERS AND ENDERS.”

AND NO – I HAVE NOT ACCOMPLISHED ANY BINDING – HENCE NO PICTURE OF THE PROGRESS ON MY BINDING CHAIR!  :):):)  OK – so that is going to be my NEW GOAL for this week – to do some binding!  I just have to get into the BINDING GROOVE!!!!  🙂
