Ravellenics and Camp Loopy Ewe Project 3

Posted By on July 29, 2012

During the Olympics I am supposed to be KNITTING – I am entered into the SHAWL EVENT for TEAM LOOPY 2012 – it is called the RAVELLENICS.

Here is my shawl for the SHAWL EVENT….WHIPPORWILL.   (It is also my Project 3 for Camp Loopy Ewe 2012.)  We were to CAST ON for RAVELLENICS  during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.

Here are my Madelinetosh Skeins – I am using Tosh Merino Light in Nutmeg and Parchment……  I love this yarn – it knits like a dream.

The yarn is ready……

And here is my progress……from Friday night until Sunday afternoon.    OH MY –  will I finish this shawl and KNIT A PAIR OF SOCKS TOO BY AUGUST 12?  HMMMM

Well, I was at VA SCRAPPERS most of the day Saturday – and then once I did start to knit,  I had to start over three times *I might have been distracted by the Olympics Opening Ceremonies – I am going to use this excuse anyway.  But  TINKing takes time  (for you NONKNITTERS – to TINK is to KNIT backwards or RIPIT….also know among knitters as FROGGING. )  Sigh.  Sadly I know these terms by heart – even though I am still looking up more pleasant things like I-Cords, XAB and XBA, MIL, M1R, K1BTL,  K1FB, etc.  To show you what a BEGINNER I AM I had to look up MC and CC (which simply means main color and contrasting color!)  Maybe I need to find the book KNITTING FOR DUMMIES  – I am sure there is such a book in existence!  The online knitting groups help a lot because there are so many NICE KNITTERS willing to EXPLAIN things!

The Whipporwill – after three days

There are a couple of  things that are making me happy no matter HOW FAR ALONG I AM  on my shawl.   One is my own little LOOPY EWE sheep tape measure.  Catherine got it for me at Lattitudes when we were in Warrenton on Friday.  I have named it LOOPY EWE.  After all, I am at CAMP LOOPY EWE right now and I am on TEAM LOOPY for the RAVELLENICS so the name was a no-brainer!

Sao’s LOOPY EWE

AND did you notice what my LOOPY EWE is standing on?  A MOST WONDERFUL ANTIQUE PICNIC BASKET with a “scotty” tray lid.  Catherine got it for me for an early BIRTHDAY PRESENT.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.

Catherine bought it at THE EMPTY NEST from Annie Sloan.  I also love that it has a story – it belonged to Annie Sloan’s 93 year old Great Aunt.  That makes it SO SPECIAL!  It is on my favorite things list – both the basket and the little LOOPY EWE!

THANKS CATHERINE AND ANNIE SLOAN FOR SELLING IT TO CATHERINE!

And now I am thinking that I need to get back to my knitting – I don’t want to let TEAM LOOPY down…………oh – you are asking about my MYSTERY SHAWL KNIT ALONG….well, the third clue came out Friday – and I am not KNITTING ALONG – but I am thinking about it and as soon as I get these other things completed, I will think about it in a PRODUCTIVE WAY!

And then there is ANNIE SLOAN’S CHALK PAINT that keeps CALLING me to paint something RED………   Visions of what I admired at THE EMPTY NEST IN WARRENTON, VA keep dancing through my head…….that settles it, THE EMPTY NEST is going on my list of Favorite things too!

…..”miles to go before I sleep….”
